The University seeks to appoint a clinical research associate professor of internal medicine: infectious diseases to the Department of Clinical Medicine to commence from as soon as possible.


The clinical research associate professorship is combined with a clinical position at Zealand University Hospital, Department of Internal Medicine.


It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the clinical research associate professorship and the clinical position. In order to be considered for the positions the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the clinical research associate professorship) and to the hospital (the clinical position) cf. the simultaneously advertised clinical position. This also applies to applicants who are currently employed at the hospital. Applicants should only apply for a clinical position at one of the hospitals.

Job description

The clinical research associate professor's responsibilities will primarily consist of:


    Research, including publication/academic dissemination 

    Research-based teaching, including associated examination

    Teacher at research training courses

    Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers 

    Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate

    Academic assessments


The distribution of tasks may vary over the 5-year period of employment. Teaching obligations are equivalent to a previous external clinical associate professorship rate B.


Current employment as clinical associate professor (rate A, B or rate C) will be terminated, if the applicant is employed as a clinical research associate professor.


Required qualifications 

The qualification requirements for the clinical research associate professor are a master’s degree in medicine, specialist status as well as further teaching and research qualifications, for instance a PhD degree or a doctoral degree, and subsequently documented scientific production on an international level. In addition, there will be an emphasis on experience with scientific guidance, research administration and international research collaboration.


The clinical research associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Terms of employment

A clinical research associate professor is paid in accordance with Aftale af 29. november 2012 mellem Styrelsen for Universiteter og Internationalisering, Yngre Læger og Foreningen af Speciallæger om kliniske lektorer ved universiteter under Ministeriet for Forskning, Innovation og Videregående Uddannelser (Uddannelsesministeriet): http://fivu.dk/lovstof/gaeldende-love-og-regler/uddannelsesinstitutioner/aftale-om-kliniske-lektorer-november-2012.pdf.


The clinical research associate professor is paid an annual honorarium of DKK 48,220.70 (Basic amount in 2012 level), equal to DKK 52,315.17 in 1 April 2019 level. The honorarium disbursed in arrears with one twelfth monthly.


The honorarium is pensionable. The pension amounts to 17,1 per cent, of which one third is considered the clinical research associate professor's own contribution.


In addition the clinical research associate professor is paid a special holiday bonus of 1.5 per cent.
