50% Professorship of Primary Care Medicine (open rank: associate or assistant professorship, tenure track)

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern is establishing a Master’s program in Pharmacy, to begin in the fall of 2020. The program will focus on patient-oriented education and interprofessional collaboration between professionals across health care organizations.

For the first position, we are seeking a pharmacist, and for the second, a medical doctor. Successful candidates will work together to establish joint courses for pharmacy and medical students. They will also develop research projects in primary care, with an emphasis on interprofessional collaboration.

Candidates must have several years of practical experience in pharmacy or family medicine / general internal medicine.

Their research activity should be wide-ranging and international. We prefer a focus on health services research. Candidates should also have a record of competing for and gaining third-party funding.

Candidates must be committed to collaborating successfully with each other and with their peers. They should have strong communication skills and be able to successfully network with scientists and health care professionals within the university / university hospital, and other health care organizations. Familiarity with the Swiss health care system would be an advantage.

Candidates must have earned a Federal Swiss degree or comparable diploma in Pharmacy or Medicine. They should have a postgraduate certification in Pharmacy or Hospital Pharmacy or a medical specialist title (Swiss FMH certification or equivalent) in an area related to primary care. Candidates will have practical experience in university teaching as well as professional experience in the field of medicine or pharmacy. We will expect successful candidates to work 50% for us as part of the professorship, and to work part-time in pharmacy or medicine (20% to 50%).

The Faculty of Medicine would like to increase the proportion of women in its ranks, and therefore particularly encourages suitable female candidates to apply.
