Position Description

 

The Department of Clinical Neurosciences (http://www.ucalgary.ca/dcns/), in partnership with the Hotchkiss Brain Institute HBI (http://www.hbi.ucalgary.ca/), at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, invites applications for a  full-time Tenure Track academic position, at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be a member of the Section of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

 

Qualifications include an MD plus relevant advanced degree (such as MSc or PhD), Royal College specialist certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation or equivalent, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. A Clinical Fellowship and/or experience as a traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation and/or concussion expert is required. Eligible applicants must have a track record in participating in research, with demonstrated scholarship. The ability to establish and/or lead an independent research program as demonstrated by a portfolio of scholarly work is a requirement of the position. Candidates must have 15 or more peer-reviewed papers, and 5 or more where they are the 1st or last author, and demonstrate the ability to attract and/or hold external funding. 

 

The successful candidate will join the Section of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and will be expected to provide exceptional sub-specialty clinical care in TBI and concussion rehabilitation and participate in general Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation on-call service.

 

While duties for this position include the provision of clinical service in the division of Physiatry and clinical teaching, substantial protected time will be provided for research. Salary support will be through the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program in Physiatry supported by Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services and the Cumming School of Medicine.
