The Gerontology and Diabetes Research Laboratory (GDRL) invites applications from highly qualified candidates for the position of post-doctoral research fellow. The GDRL is a laboratory that specializes in patient-oriented, translational research involving both human subjects and database-based research. Our laboratory has ongoing investigations into older adults with diabetes, exercise interventions in older adults, falls prevention, syncope in older adults and postprandial hypotension funded by a combination of peer-reviewed funding agencies (Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation) and private foundation support.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow with expertise performing translational clinical data collection in human subjects, epidemiology, database management, manuscript writing, creating grant applications and the development and execution of research protocols. The candidate will gain expertise working alongside clinician scientists from the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the University of British Columbia.

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS:

The Candidate will be based in Gerontology and Diabetes Research Laboratory in the VGH Research Pavilion at Vancouver General Hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK PERFORMED:

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related field and will have had relevant research experience; training/course work in exercise science and epidemiology would be an asset. The successful candidate will have experience in clinical research and have authored or co-authored publications and preferably will have presented at scientific and medical conferences. Significant computational and statistical skills are desirable. The candidate will be required to be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or have a current Canadian work visa.
