PhD Scholarship Opportunity in Nutrient Signalling and Metabolism plus $5K top-up

Supervisor: Adam Rose, Metabolism, Diabetes and Obesity Program, Biochemistry
and Molecular Biology, Monash University.


Duration: 3 years


Remuneration: A $5000 per annum top-up supplement will be provided to RTP stipend holders and/or to successful applicants for a Biomedicine Graduate Program Scholarship of ~$27,353.00 p.a. (tax free, indexed

The Opportunity


The Nutrient Metabolism and Signalling Laboratory
( is seeking a talented and enthusiastic
student to join our dynamic international team to conduct research on novel signalling pathways in
how metabolic signalling pathways are dysregulated in - and causally related to - the development of
metabolic diseases such as diabetes. The project will take advantage of state-of- the-art cell culture
(i.e. Crispr-Cas9 screens), animal models (e.g. AAV-mediated transduction, mouse genetics), and
metabolic profiling (e.g. metabolic fluxomics) methods. Specific research projects can be accessed


Candidate Requirements


Exceptional graduate students with a high level (H1) Honours degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry,
Molecular/Cell Biology or a related discipline are encouraged to apply. The scholarship is open to
Australian and New Zealand citizens or permanent residents only and is funded at the rate of the
Australian Postgraduate award.
