The Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, invites applications for a full-time teaching-stream appointment in Health Informatics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and will commence on September 1, 2018 or as soon as possible after. The successful candidate may serve as Program Director for the Masters of Health Informatics (MHI) and the Executive Masters of Health Informatics (EMHI) for an initial term of four years, renewable once upon favourable review.

We seek candidates who have earned a Ph.D. degree in Information and Communications Theory, Health Informatics, Computer Science Engineering or Evaluation Sciences by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, or a clinical scientist with an MD and a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in the areas listed above by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter. Candidates must have an interest in, and expertise of, a health informatics relevant field.

The successful candidate should have a demonstrated record of excellence in academic leadership and teaching, with a proven ability in educational innovation. Excellence in teaching, pedagogical inquiry, and educational innovation will be demonstrated through a strong teaching dossier, including a statement of teaching philosophy, course evaluations, and a record of previous teaching accomplishments and innovations submitted as part of the application, as well strong endorsements from referees of high standing. Qualified candidates must possess exceptional leadership skills, including an ability to work effectively within a team that is comprised of multiple stakeholders such as faculty, senior administration, staff and students; a demonstrated ability to provide support and mentorship as an advocate for change and new ideas; a willingness to engage with the Institute and the faculty as a whole to share knowledge and expertise in their subject area.

This will involve developing, refining, and monitoring the program’s curriculum theory and pedagogical models. The candidate will develop and participate in student recruitment and will be responsible for ongoing management of the program, including management of student, faculty and alumni expectations.
