Associate Professor of General Practice



Grade A82: £76,761 - £103,490 p.a., consultant scale based on years of seniority plus any applicable NHS merit awards


Applications are invited for the Associate Professorship of General Practice, to start as soon as possible. The successful applicant will be an academic GP and the academic title will be based on the seniority of the appointed candidate. They will have an outstanding record in research, with leadership abilities at national and international levels in a field of primary care research that is complementary to existing strengths in the department.


The department is a thriving, top ranked, centre of primary care research. We are looking for a research lead that will complement our current research themes and would be particularly interested in candidates with the following research interests: cancer; dementia; musculoskeletal disorders; or mental health.


You will be a Member or Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners or equivalent and be eligible to work in the UK as a general practitioner. You will have a strong and consistent track-record of publication in high-impact journals and a strong track-record of gaining substantial external grant income from bodies such as the MRC and NIHR.


You will deliver teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and carry out administrative and pastoral duties as agreed with the Head of Department and College Principal. In the College you will be expected to execute your duties as a member of the Governing Body and a trustee of the College and to contribute to the running of the College.
