Position Summary

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for a Research Assistant Professor. Duties include, but are not limited to:


Lead the Manuscript and Writing Unit (MWU) at UNC Project Malawi in Lilongwe, Malawi. Supervise up to five junior members of the MWU. Responsibilities will be to teach epidemiology and biostatistical methods to junior Malawi faculty and UNC students and faculty conducting research in Malawi. Conduct weekly “works in progress” meetings, and formally conduct one on one mentorship to faculty and students in grant writing, manuscript writing, study design and statistical analysis. Research responsibilities include being an investigator, principal investigator, or co-principal investigator on research conducted on behalf of UNC Project in Malawi.


Educational Requirements

PhD in Epidemiology is required. Preference for a Masters in Biostatistics.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential qualifications include bilingual in English and Chichewa. Selected candidate must reside in Lilongwe, Malawi on a full-time basis.


A preference for a minimum of five years of global research experience.
