PhD Student Positions

wage group: 13 TV-KAH
reference code: 2018-328a

Basic and clinical scientists from biochemistry, immunology, informatics, internal medicine, neurology, surgery and neuroimmunology at University Medical Center􀀃Hamburg-
Eppendorf form functional and interacting research units. For these units, we are looking for colleagues to strengthen our ambitious research projects starting from􀀃 July 01,
2018. All positions are scheduled within Collaborative Research Center 1328 Adenine Nucleotides in Immunity and Inflammation for four years until June 30, 2022.

Extracellular and intracellular adenine nucleotides impact on all central processes in biology and medicine. Adenine nucleotides are essential and ubiquitous signaling
molecules involved in regulating universal cellular processes, including cell-cell communication and intracellular signaling.
The central goal of Collaborative Research Center 1328 Adenine Nucleotides in Immunity and Inflammation is to further our understanding of the regulatory roles of
adenine nucleotides and their kinetics in the context of inflammatory diseases. Specific aims relate to (i) modulation of the balance between pro- and
anti-inflammatory processes by adenine nucleotide-converting ecto-nucleotidases and purinergic receptors, and to (ii) adenine nucleotide-driven intracellular calcium
signaling and cAMP signaling in inflammation.
The Collaborative Research Center 1328 Adenine Nucleotides in Immunity and Inflammation is centrally located at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf
and at University of Hamburg. National and international experts in the adenine nucleotide research field from Bonn, Göttingen und Munich significantly strengthen
our initiative. By interdisciplinary integration we will develop an integral view of adenine nucleotide biology and pathophysiology, providing the basis for novel
diagnostic methods and innovative treatment strategies, focusing on inflammatory diseases in immune, adipose and nervous systems.
