Engineering of cell-free Extracellular Matrices enriched with
osteoinductive and immunomodulatory factors to enhance bone healing

Level of employment / possibly date of entry

Post-doc fellow (0-2 years postdoctoral experience) / starting from June
2018. The position is envisioned for up to 3-4 years.

Intro

The Tissue Engineering Group at the Department of Biomedicine of the

University Hospital Basel in Switzerland is currently seeking for a
highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the understanding and
extracellular matrix-mediated control of immunological processes
underlying bone regeneration.

The interdisciplinary Tissue Engineering Group in Basel, directed by

Prof. Ivan Martin, generally aims at understanding mechanisms governing
tissue regeneration and to translate this knowledge into innovative
clinical approaches for cartilage and bone repair

Your tasks

In the context of a program funded by the Swiss National Science

Foundation, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow is expected to be
responsible for a challenging project at the interface between
Immunology and Tissue Engineering. The program aims at engineering
extracellular matrices which upon implantation are capable to recruit
and instruct endogenous cells towards bone tissue formation.

Your profile

• Experience in Immunology is mandatory

• Experience in Tissue Engineering/Regenerative Medicine is an
important asset
• Experience in molecular biology is a plus, but not imperative
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
• Outstanding motivation and capacity to work in interdisciplinary
teams
