The University of Applied Sciences, Bern, is an application oriented University which covers over 30 Bachelor Programmes, 22 Master Programmes, well-founded research services and a wide range of further educational development courses. Studies are conducted in a practical, interdisciplinary and international context.

The University of Applied Sciences, Bern, trains qualified professionals, both at the bachelor and master degree levels in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Nutrition & Dietetics and Midwifery, in addition to conducting applied research & development, offering further educational and professional development services in these areas.

The division of midwifery, based at the University of Applied Sciences in Bern, is currently looking to recruit a highly qualified professional for the position of Head of the MSc Studies programme for midwifery, which began in Autumn 2017. Required start date is 1st January 2019 or by agreed appointment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Management and positioning of the MSc Midwifery Studies programme
Academic lecturer in the MSc Midwifery Studies programme
Research activities in the field of midwifery and obstetrics
Representation and networking, both in national and international healthcare communities
Participation in both the division of midwifery and the extended health department's executive management teams

Your Profile

A university degree in healthcare, ideally a Midwife
A doctorate in healthcare or social sciences or currently enrolled in a PhD-program
Experience in research and acquisition of third-party funding
University level teaching qualification and experience
Excellent communication and social skills
Management and leadership experience
Ideally German speaking or willing to learn German, good proficiency in English
Flexible and able to deal with high workload
A significant interest in further developing the profession of midwives
