£27025 to £30395 per annum, depending on skills and experience (£30395 with relevant PhD).


The University hosts one of the six BBSRC/EPSRC funded Synthetic Biology Research Centres (SBRC-Nottingham) in the United Kingdom. The centre has a team of highly motivated research scientists dedicated to develop novel methodologies and processes for a biobased economy and sustainable future. It fosters links between researchers in a multidisciplinary environment and provides an excellent location for collaborative, cross-disciplinary projects. We are seeking candidates to work on a collaborative project between the SBRC-Nottingham (School of Life Sciences University Park Campus) and School of Biosciences (Sutton Bonington Campus) to work on a BBSRC funded project developing a novel system for efficient chloroplast transformation.

 

You should hold a PhD (pending or awarded) in a discipline relevant to plant biology and/or biochemistry. Past experience of plant transformation and preferably biolistics is essential. A knowledge of advanced genome editing and/or metabolic pathway analysis would be desirable.

 

This post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed term contract for a period of 18 months, but must start by 01 February 2019, as the grant ends on 31 July 2020.

 

Hours of work will be full-time (36.25 per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
