Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice in Gastroenterology in the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 493729), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.


Over recent years, the Faculty has pursued a strategy to expand our patient base thereby providing opportunities for high-quality clinical research in a wider spectrum of diseases and clinical conditions as well as teaching and learning in different and diverse clinical settings that fully reflect the mixed health economy locally and nationally. HKU Health System is the umbrella executive arm overseeing the Faculty’s clinical enterprises to ensure robust clinical governance for those services, as well as being the branding focal point of the teaching, research and clinical activities therein.


Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, a higher qualification in internal medicine, and specialist qualification in gastroenterology. They should have proven capacity and potential, and a track record of active research; and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in clinical services and training. Applicants should also be fluent in Chinese and English to have direct communication with patients or general public. The appointee will be involved in clinical research on colorectal cancer; conduct colonoscopy screening and examination to high risk family cases and general population in accordance with the screening protocol; and perform any other duties as assigned.


A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidate. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
