DESCRIPTION The Division of Medical Education (https://meded.ucsd.edu/) in the UC San Diego School of Medicine seeks an experienced and innovative individual to serve as Associate Dean for Admissions & Student Affairs (ASA). The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring excellence in all aspects of the UCSD medical student experience with major responsibility for the admission and stewardship of students throughout their four years of medical school.
The Associate Dean is a member of the Medical Education leadership team and has broad programmatic oversight for its’ student services units: Admissions & Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Life, and Diversity and Community Partnerships, as well as its’ six academic communities. The School of Medicine has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of diversity and professionalism and seeks an individual who shares that commitment.
The candidate must have an MD or other terminal degree (e.g., DO, PhD or EDD) and have a significant record of leadership and achievement in an area of medicine and/or education. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, in order to effectively serve as part of the Medical Education leadership team. Prior administrative experience in a medical education setting is highly desirable.
This is a 100% time position; the successful candidate will be expected to expend 15% effort in related clinical or research work.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
