Assistant Professor (WOT), Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology Position Overview Organization: Pediatrics Title: Assistant Professor (WOT), Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology Position Details Position Description The Division of Neonatology, Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital is seeking a full-time neonatologist to join our faculty as a full-time Assistant Professor (without tenure by reason of funding) on the Clinician-Scholar track. This is a 12-month service period position with an anticipated start date of July 2021. This is an exceptional opportunity for a neonatologist who also wishes to spend time in education, scholarship, and to participate in research at an outstanding academic center, as all University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Our Division has three primary areas of research focus: translational and clinical neonatal neuroprotection/neuroscience, simulation as an educational and clinical competency tool, and global neonatal-perinatal health. The 40-faculty member Division of Neonatology has an outstanding fellowship training program, robust clinical/translational and basic research, and provides clinical care at two academic NICUs and several regional NICUs. The division’s highly valued clinical faculty are fully integrated into the division’s educational and scholarly activities and each spends several weeks per year attending at one of the two academic NICUs. The Seattle-Tacoma/South Puget Sound region is widely recognized as one of the most desirable locations in the US to live and work, with a wide spectrum of cultural, educational, and sporting events, and with year-round recreational opportunities for boaters, hikers, bikers, and skiers—to name but a few. Qualifications This position requires an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), and board certification or board eligibility in Neonatology. To be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
