The successful candidate will be offered a tenured or tenure-track appointment with the rank of assistant professor, which is in accordance with the Academic Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Location - This role is in-person at the Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie, Alberta The Division of Anatomy in the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level for an Anatomist. Applicants who are exceptionally and appropriately qualified may be considered at the Associate Professor level. We seek an individual who will complement and extend our existing strengths in the teaching of medical gross anatomy, general systematic anatomy, clinical neuroanatomy, histology and embryology. The successful candidate will be expected to carry a substantial teaching load and engage in independent and/or collaborative research in any one of the anatomical disciplines or in the field of medical education. The goal of this position is to support the Northern Alberta Medical Program, an expansion of the University of Alberta Undergraduate Medical Program in partnership with Northwestern Polytechnic located in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Grande Prairie is a community of about 70,000 persons located about 500 km NW of Edmonton. The bulk of the time commitment for this position will be in-person at Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie; however, there will be opportunities, and occasional requirements, for in-person attendance at the University of Alberta North Campus in Edmonton. Applicants should have an MD and/or PhD degree and significant experience in teaching human anatomy, as well as a proven track record in independent or collaborative research. The Division of Anatomy is primarily a teaching division with responsibilities for teaching human anatomy to undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students within the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, Rehabilitation Medicine, Physical Education and Recreation, Nursing, and to undergraduate students in Pharmacy, Dental Hygiene and Science.
