The School of Health Sciences (SHS) at the University of Nottingham, one of the four Schools in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, provides a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, sport rehabilitation and for the allied health professions.  

The School’s mission is ‘to provide excellent healthcare education and undertake outstanding research that inspires our students and staff to transform the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities and make an enlightened and valued contribution to society’.  

The School is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Midwifery to contribute to teaching and/or research on undergraduate and (where appropriate) postgraduate midwifery programmes. We are looking to appoint a candidate with either a Research and Teaching (R&T) focus or Teaching and Curriculum Leadership (T&CL) focus.  The candidate must have current midwifery registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), experience in midwifery, research and teaching and of supporting midwifery students in clinical placements and hold a Master’s degree in a subject relevant to maternity care/maternal health and wellbeing for the Teaching and Curriculum Leadership focus and a PhD for the Research and Teaching focus. 

The post will be based in Nottingham but you will be expected to travel to clinical placement areas as appropriate.    

This is a permanent post. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
