Assistant Professor of Medicine

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery – Michael Garron Hospital are seeking to recruit an otolaryngologist - head & neck surgeon. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher and must be eligible for an adjunct clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is July 1, 2024 or shortly thereafter.

 

The successful candidate will join a collegial group of 4 Comprehensive and Sub-specialty trained Otolaryngologists. Applicants must have completed an accredited Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery Residency with FRCSC certification (or equivalent) and be eligible for medical licensure in Ontario. An interest and willingness to participate in Pediatric Otolaryngology care is mandatory but a comprehensive practice is expected including management of sinonasal and thyroid disease. This exciting job includes surgical time in the main OR. Job responsibilities also include: staffing our new OPD Otolaryngology clinic for emergent and urgent comprehensive care, inpatient consults, and on-call duties. Faculty will be expected to participate in the MGH Thyroid Diagnostic Assessment Unit, Thyroid Surgery Same Day Discharge program, as well as Endocrine Tumor Boards. Engagement in undergraduate and post-graduate education is expected of all faculty at Michael Garron Hospital and a University appointment is required with appointment level commensurate with University criteria. There will be access to a new operative microscope, CO2 laser, intra-operative parathyroid hormone testing, surgical navigation for sinus surgery, and facial/recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring.

 

The candidate must hold an MD degree and a Fellowship in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and will be eligible for an independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  He/ She should be eligible for appointment in the Department of Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto at a rank commensurate with his/her qualifications and academic achievements starting with Lecturer/ Assistant Professor. Remuneration is subject to an agreed job description, as well as commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until December 30, 2023.
