The Public Health Program at the University of Texas at Austin is recruiting qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position for the Fall 2025 semester. This position seeks candidates with a strong track record of university teaching experience at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Instruction.

Primary duties for this position include teaching project management, planning and program evaluation, and other public health courses depending on department needs and the candidate’s qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to teach multiple courses each semester, participate in course development activities, contribute to program accreditation activities, conduct regular office hours, and manage an instructional team. Service on departmental committees, participation in peer teaching observations, and involvement in curriculum development efforts are also expected.

The rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction carries a nine-month appointment, renewed annually based on demonstrated teaching excellence and need of the department.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in public health or a related field (PhD, DrPH, MD/MPH, etc.). Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate students at the university level is preferred. Experience in providing public health or related services is highly desirable. CAPM or PMP certification is also highly desirable.

We seek a qualified candidate to teach project management, planning and program evaluation and other public health courses in-person for a total of three class sections during both the fall and spring semesters. Thus, the ideal candidate will have specialized knowledge and experience in project management, planning and/or program evaluation, and demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience including experiential instruction and learning, use of innovative instructional methods, and mentoring student research projects and honors theses; proven scholarship and achievement; and the ability to work with a dynamic and creative team.
