Assistant Teaching Professor in Pharmacology

Applications are invited for a 5-year fixed-term University Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Cambridge with effect from 1 July 2023 , or as soon as possible thereafter. The Department offers excellent facilities for teaching 2nd and 3rd year students on several different courses, as well as supporting research in a broad range of fields, including: cell signalling, cancer, pain, neuropharmacology, and vascular pharmacology.

The role holder will be based in Central Cambridge. The primary responsibility will be to provide teaching and administrative cover for University Teaching Officers during periods of academic and other types of leave. The key duties of the role will include but not be limited to: giving lectures and seminars, running practical classes, and supervising undergraduate project and dissertation students, as well as taking an active part in undergraduate examinations and administrative duties within the Department of Pharmacology. The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant specialist subject area and a track record in teaching at a higher education institution.

Appointments will be made at University Assistant Professor level. The starting salary, depending upon experience, will be in the region of £43,414-£54,949 pa. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure, a security check and a health assessment. Whether the outcome is satisfactory will be determined by the University.
