Apply now Job no: 847406 Working/Functional TitleHospital Care Capstone Course Director Position SummaryMichigan State University College of Osteopathic seeks a dynamic and innovative individual to lead the develop of a new Hospital Care Capstone course as course director. The course has been conceived within a curricular update of the preclinical phase of the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program, and will be delivered in year two at the transition between preclinical and clinical education. This course will provide acute care in the hospital setting, including emergency, surgical, and inpatient medical care. The course will include case- and team-based learning. The course director will lead the development of learning objectives and accompanying instructional and assessment methods, in coordination with two other capstone courses which will focus on ambulatory-based care and health systems science. The course director will provide instruction in the course, along with other designated faculty. The course is slated to launch in spring semester 2025, at which time the course director will serve as the instructor of record. During the development of the course, the course director will be responsible to provide regular updates to the College Curriculum Committee and will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education. Candidates for this position will be a D.O. or M.D. with board certification in Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine, or another specialty with relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have current or recent work experience as a hospital-based physician, as well as experience in medical education. To encourage engagement of those working in these areas, this position will be part-time at an estimated 0.3 to 0.4 FTE, with a defined work plan for delivery of course materials.
