Position description

The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology in the Rausser College of Natural Sciences, at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an appointee as Assistant or Associate Professional Researcher in the Professor David D. Moore Lab, in the area of nutrient signaling and nutrient regulation of gene expression.

This position is focused on studies of the role of nutrients as metabolic and regulatory signals in the context of both normal physiology and disease. The specific area of interest is the impact of nutrients and nuclear receptor modulators on normal metabolism and on metabolic disease in the context of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The appointee will engage independently and directly in research, leading studies on the impact of specific nutrients, including unusual fatty acid species, on inflammatory pathways in mouse models of IBD, as well as novel in vitro organoid models of IBD. As the project progresses it is expected that the appointee will secure independent research funding and will develop an independent research program. These independent efforts will synergize with related but distinct and independent efforts in the Moore laboratory.
