DescriptionThe Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville has an opening for a full-time position in the Division of Forensic Pediatrics and Child Protection. The position will be at the non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor and will assume the role of Medical Director of the University of Florida’s Child Protection Team (CPT) and Associate Program Director to the Child Abuse Pediatric Fellowship Program. Major responsibilities will include directing the day-to-day clinical operation of the Child Protection Team, clinical care to victims of child abuse, and teaching of fellows, residents and medical students. Conducting community trainings on child abuse is also required. The Director supervises the largest CPT in Florida, in what is an advanced statewide Child Protection Team system. This is a large busy clinical and academic team that includes 9 child abuse examiners of different disciplines, 18 case coordinators/interviewers, a supervising Team Coordinator to meaningfully manage contracts, reports, hiring and scheduling, a sexual abuse trauma therapy program, and focused senior CPT assistants working on death reviews and Death Review Teams for multiple counties. Services are provided at CPT Clinics as well as to area hospitals. Including Wolfson Children’s Hospital (Level I Pediatric Trauma Center) and the University of Florida Health – Jacksonville (Level II Trauma Center). This position will report to the Chief of the Division of Forensics and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.
