Job DescriptionThe Department of Genetics & Genomics at UAEU's College of Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking a qualified Clinical Geneticist to join our academic faculty. This role encompasses clinical service, medical education, and research in genetics and genomics. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's mission of advancing genomic literacy, clinical skills, and translational research to meet the healthcare needs of the UAE community. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Mentorship • Teach medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare trainees through lectures, bedside teaching, and mentorship. • Develop educational materials and participate in curriculum development for genetics education. • Support graduate programs, including the PhD in Genetics, Master in Genomic Medicine and the Master of Genetic Counseling . Research and Scholarly Activity • Conduct independent or collaborative research in clinical genetics, genomic medicine, or related fields. • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences. • Pursue external funding opportunities, if applicable. • Utilize state-of-the-art facilities, including the UAEU Genomics Laboratory equipped with next-generation sequencing platforms and advanced technologies in biochemical genetics and metabolomics . Clinical Duties • Provide outpatient and inpatient consultation services in clinical genetics, including general genetics, metabolic disorders, and cancer genetics clinics. • Interpret genetic and genomic tests and provide detailed counseling to patients and families. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at affiliated hospitals, such as Tawam Hospital, to deliver expert consultation services . Program Development and Community Engagement • Participate in the growth and development of clinical genetics services. • Engage with community groups and other educational providers to provide information and support. • Contribute to establishing a cohesive network of genetic health professionals in the UAE .
Minimum Qualification• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with board certification or eligibility in Clinical Genetics. • Eligibility for medical licensure in the United Arab Emirates. • Demonstrated interest and experience in teaching and academic scholarship. • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within academic and healthcare environments.
Preferred Qualification• Experience in research with a track record of scholarly productivity. • Subspecialty interest in areas such as cancer genetics, neurogenetics, metabolic disorders, or prenatal genetics. • Experience with next-generation sequencing, gene therapy approaches, or precision medicine initiatives.
