Position description

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is recruiting for a full-time academic faculty at Associate Professor level in the Clinical X series. The candidate will join an already established multidisciplinary group focused on taking care of a large cohort of patients with cardiovascular and Advanced Heart Failure disease.

Candidates must possess the degree of MD and be board certified in both Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine and Advanced Heart Failure. Appointees to the Clinical X series are required to participate in teaching, university/public service, patient care/professional services, and creative work that can include bench, clinical, or translational research. Candidates must have an established or developing independent research program in the area of clinical research on quality measures and outcomes in heart failure, population-based research or translational research on vascular biology and inflammation in atherosclerosis demarcated by significant publications and extramural funding. The Candidate will be expected to advance inter-disciplinary collaboration and translational studies and must have demonstrated interpersonal skills to achieve this goal. Experience in or the ability to teach fellows, residents, medical and graduate students is required. Patient care experience in cardiovascular medicine is required. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required.

Candidates can expect to practice in a stimulating academic environment and be actively involved in the growth and development of the advanced heat failure and transplant program. The candidate should be able to teach trainees at multiple levels on the inpatient heart failure critical care consult service, and in outpatient heart failure, pulmonary and VAD clinics.

Candidates must be US Citizen or Permanent Residence. J1 or H1B visa will be not be considered. Academic rank and salary commensurate to experience.
