Position Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine is seeking to hire a pediatric epileptologist to join the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Seattle Children’s Hospital. This position will include EEG reading, neurology and epilepsy consultations, and a clinic. Responsibilities will also include shared supervision of adult and pediatric neurology residents. This position will be primarily located in one of the Seattle Children’s Hospital outreach clinics.   

This is a full-time, 12-month service period appointment (July 1 – June 30) at the Assistant Professor rank (without tenure by reason of funding). Assistant professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engages in teaching, research, and service. This position will require active participation in clinical and teaching programs, and offer opportunities to participate in basic science and clinical research in epilepsy. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, experience in epilepsy surgery.

The base salary range for this position will be $16,564 - $18,053 per month ($198,768 to $216,636 per year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

Title, rank and salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date of this appointment is October 1, 2023.

Qualifications

1. Requirements include:

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree,
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Washington
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with
    • Special Qualification in Child Neurology.
    • Clinical Neurophysiology and/or Epilepsy. 
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
