Job description
The Department seeks to appoint a 10% associate professor of Vaccinology (fixed-term 2 years) to commence as soon as possible.

The applicant shall be heading a research team working on the development of virus-like particle based vaccines. Specifically, the group is working with the development of a generic and easy-to-use technology for making efficient vaccines against both infectious- and non-communicable chronic diseases. The technology employs 'virus-like particles' (VLPs) which are enabled to bind efficiently to various vaccine antigens via a genetically engineered binding-tag on the VLP surface. The team of scientists work with the identification of vaccine targets and antigen design, including recombinant expression of antigen candidates and formulation/quality testing of developed VLP-vaccines. Finally, vaccine efficacy is measured in animal models and vaccine-induced immune responses in investigated by various assays.

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
  • Academic assessments


Required qualifications
The successful applicant should be able to document:

  • Expertise in vaccine development, in particular modular vaccines based on virus-like particles.
  • Expertise in antigen design
  • Expertise in immunological assay used for investigating of vaccine-induced immune responses.
  • Research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways.
  • Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies
  • Research-based teaching

The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.
