The Wyss Zurich is a joint research and development center of the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, which was made possible by a generous donation from the Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr. h.c. mult. Hansjörg Wyss. The mission of Wyss Zurich is to drive the clinical translation and technology transfer of outstanding scientific discoveries into new therapies for patients and breakthrough innovations in the emerging fields of Regenerative Medicine and Robotics, and to promote hybrid technologies in these fields. Wyss Zurich brings together some of the world's leading experts to form multidisciplinary teams, pooling their knowledge and expertise.


Hemotune is an early stage medical device start-up project currently incubated at Wyss Zurich. Our mission is to develop a live-saving breakthrough medical device for targeted blood purification. We are currently in the preclinical development phase with the goal of reaching a first-in-man clinical trial in 2021.

Your responsibilities

Your responsibilities include the design, planning and execution of preclinical functional performance and biocompatibility studies as part of the hemotune product development process. You will also coordinate the in vitro/in vivo preclinical studies with external partners. As Biomedical Scientist, you are an integral part of the interdisciplinary hemotune development team and directly report project progress and deliverables to the Chief Scientific Officer. You manage your own research & development projects from conception to release, which includes leading of a small team of interns, thereby ensuring timeliness and quality of execution according to the requirements of the Quality Management System.

Your profile

You are excited to work in a dynamic start-up environment, have a hands-on, pro-active attitude, are a strong team player, and are passionate about what you do. Besides excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, you enjoy taking on responsibility and have experience in project management. You bring along a PhD degree in the areas of Microbiology, Immunology, Biomedicine, Molecular biology or equivalent relevant experience in the field. You should have work experience in designing, planning and managing research projects in a laboratory environment and a broad knowledge of molecular biology and biomedical lab techniques. Experience with nanomaterials and knowledge of medical device industrial standards such as ISO 13485 and ISO 10993 are a plus.
