Role Overview

  • Provide academic leadership in Pharmaceutics.

  • Strategic leadership for UCC Futures – Future Medicines as Director.

  • Report to the Heads of School & College of Medicine and Health.

  • Lead the growth of collaborative and translational research programmes.

  • Drive high-impact research in drug delivery, nanomedicine, or precision medicine, particularly in disease areas of high unmet clinical need.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage research staff in the School of Pharmacy.

  • Secure prestigious competitive funding (e.g., ERC grants) to support high-quality research programmes.

  • Promote and expand UCC Futures initiatives.

  • Represent UCC in national and international research collaborations and consortia (Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, etc.).

  • Maintain a world-class research profile aligned with UCC Futures – Future Medicines.

  • Contribute to teaching and knowledge transfer where applicable.


Candidate Profile

Required:

  • Outstanding record of scholarly achievement and research leadership.

  • Strong track record in translational and interdisciplinary research.

  • International recognition and influence in pharmaceutics, drug delivery, nanomedicine, or precision medicine.

  • Ability to secure competitive research funding.

  • Experience in strategic leadership and team management.

Desirable:

  • Experience in large-scale collaborative research projects.

  • Engagement with industry partners and translational research networks.
