Chemical Process Engineer (w/m)


The Wyss Zurich is a joint research and development center of the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, which was made possible by a generous donation from the Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr. h.c. mult. Hansjörg Wyss. The mission of Wyss Zurich is to drive the clinical translation and technology transfer of outstanding scientific discoveries into new therapies for patients and breakthrough innovations in the emerging fields of Regenerative Medicine and Robotics, and to promote hybrid technologies in these fields. Wyss Zurich brings together some of the world's leading experts to form multidisciplinary teams, pooling their knowledge and expertise.

hemotune is an early stage medical device start-up project currently incubated at Wyss Zurich. Our mission is to develop a live-saving breakthrough medical device for targeted blood purification. We are currently in the preclinical development phase with the goal of reaching a first-in-man clinical trial in 2021.

Your responsibilities



Your responsibilities mainly focus on the production of the precursor nanomaterial for our hemotune NanoSorbent products that will be used in preclinical and clinical studies. This includes the management and operation of our flame spray pyrolysis infrastructure, establishing standard operating procedures (SOP\'s), optimizing the production process and product quality and working as part of our research and development team to coordinate the production volume in accordance with the required needs. As Chemical Process Engineer, you are an integral part of the interdisciplinary hemotune development team and directly report to the Chief Scientific Officer. You will track, monitor and report the project process and deliverables according to our Quality Management System.

Your profile

You are excited to work in a dynamic start-up environment, have a hands-on, pro-active attitude, are a strong team player and are passionate about what you do. You bring along a master\'s degree with work experience or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Nanotechnology or another relevant industrial background. You are experienced in working in a chemical laboratory environment as well as in managing and upscaling of chemical production processes. Experience with flame spray pyrolysis, nanomaterials, knowledge of medical device industrial standards such as ISO 13485 and Six Sigma training are a plus. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
