Description

The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. Applicants must have an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree and demonstrate excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. Candidates must be American Board of Radiology certified or eligible with subspecialty training in cardiothoracic radiology.


Teaching Responsibilities

  • Daily clinical supervision of residents and cardiothoracic imaging fellows

  • Lecturing to medical students, radiology residents, fellows, and trainees from other departments

  • Preparing learning materials, lectures, teaching posters, and presentations for national review


Clinical Responsibilities

  • Interpretation of chest radiographs, thoracic CT, and thoracic MRI

  • Performance of thoracic needle biopsies (preferred)

  • Optional participation in cardiovascular CT and MRI clinical practice

  • Shared after-hour and weekend coverage


Research/Scholarship Responsibilities

  • Lead a focused research program within thoracic and/or cardiovascular imaging

  • Apply imaging to detect, diagnose, or evaluate chest and/or cardiovascular diseases

  • Study clinical impact of imaging in disease diagnosis

  • Provide mentorship to junior faculty developing a research career in cardiothoracic imaging

  • Demonstrated prior research experience and peer-reviewed scholarship


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience

  • Strong leadership skills

  • National reputation for clinical excellence in Thoracic and/or Cardiovascular Imaging

  • Proven record of research collaboration and mentorship

  • Section interprets over 110,000 examinations per year at:

    • Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

    • Penn Presbyterian Medical Center

    • Pennsylvania Hospital

    • Affiliated outpatient centers

  • State-of-the-art imaging equipment, including wide-detector and third-generation dual-source CT

  • Dedicated 1.5T, 3T, and 7T MRI systems

  • Comprehensive scientific infrastructure supporting:

    • Thoracic applications of quantitative image analysis

    • Imaging genomics

    • Molecular imaging

    • Hyperpolarized gases

  • Clinical services across multiple hospitals and affiliated outpatient imaging centers in PA and NJ
