Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiolgoy (Part-time) Clinical Psychologist Pain Medicine

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking a clinical psychologist to be a part of the Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Pain Medicine. This is a part-time, fixed-term academic appointment at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

EDUCATION/ LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:   

Licensed PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology required from an accredited college or university. Current and valid CA license required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of two years professional experience under the direction of a licensed psychologist or board certified psychiatrist and a minimum of two years of practice under their own license. Previous clinical responsibilities to include diagnosis, treatment planning, evaluation, brief individual psychotherapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work in a multidisciplinary medical based environment and with variety of interpersonal styles of communication.

TRAINING/WORK EXPERIENCE:

Previous clinical responsibilities to include diagnosis, brief individual psychotherapy, and consultation and collaboration with medical personnel.
Knowledge of behavioral medicine, mind-body therapies, trauma psychology or health psychology is desirable.
Knowledge of state regulations and professional standards as it relates to client treatment, documentation, patient rights and client / patient confidentiality in health settings is required.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
Ability to work well with other disciplines required.
Lecture skills and effective written and oral communication skills required.
Bilingual skills helpful.
Familiarity with psychopharmacology and medical terminology is desirable.
Excellent and timely documentation and record keeping qualities required.
Good oral and written English skills required.

DUTIES:

Psychological assessments and treatment for patients with chronic pain and other chronic conditions, primarily in out-patient setting. Manage a full health psychology caseload covering a wide variety of chronic pain diagnoses and other chronic conditions, including cancer. Provide self-regulation training and biofeedback. Provide assessment for surgical procedures, implantable devices and infusions.  Interact with multi-disciplinary Pain Management Program. Creates and maintains appropriate documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, and insurance related reports. Consult and provide education/ lecture to residents, fellows, physicians, medical and nursing staff regarding a variety of applications of behavioral medicine. Assists with or performs research with research team. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
