UW Medicine Primary Care (UWPC), in conjunction with the Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, is seeking a Primary Care Physician/Clinical Instructor for a Clinic Chief role in Kent, WA.

Clinical Instructors hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  In addition to providing primary care, this role will include some clinical teaching responsibilities. Position will ideally start Summer 2023.

The ideal candidate should have leadership and clinical experience, be Board Certified/Board Eligible, and possess strong communication and team building skills. UW Medicine Primary Care is committed to supporting clinician leaders in their professional growth, and the position would offer ongoing training and opportunities to collaborate with Medical Directors in a wide range of clinical leadership activities.

The Clinic Chief is a UWPC provider and meets all the requirements thereof.

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Collaboration with the Clinic Manager to provide leadership for the clinic providers and staff.
  • Effective communication with clinic providers and network leadership.
  • Support of a positive work environment for all providers and staff, modeling the highest level of professionalism.
  • Support and implementation of quality improvement efforts.
  • Participation in the annual budget process.

UW Medicine Primary Care offers a complete spectrum of primary care services and is committed to improving the health of the public. The providers are actively engaged in teaching and provide care using the medical home model, creating a friendly and stimulating atmosphere for providers, staff and patients.

The base salary for this position will be $17,192 monthly, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.  This is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

There is a monthly temporary pay supplement (TPS) of $833 for the additional duties associated with the clinic chief component of this position.

Other compensation associated with this position may include one-time Monthly Additional Compensation payment and incentive pay based on performance.

Qualifications

Candidates must have earned an MD or DO, or foreign equivalent, completed residency, and should be board certified or board eligible in Family or Internal Medicine.  Candidates will need to possess or obtain a valid Washington State medical license and DEA cert.
