Position description

The Department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital seeks candidates for appointment as Health Sciences Clinical Instructor or Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. This is a full-time UCLA faculty position providing clinical care within our UCLA Pediatric Hematology/Oncology medical group which practices at Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital, which is also known as the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Institute [JJCCI] at Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Long Beach, California.

The JJCCI team provides quality, compassionate care to children with cancer, sickle cell disease and other serious blood disorders and provides comprehensive psychosocial programs and multi-disciplinary care teams that enhance patient care. Strong emphasis is placed on integrating new research efforts into treatment plans that allow children access to the latest therapies and technologies. The JJCCI has a dedicated unit of 24 private rooms for pediatric, adolescent and young adult (AYA) hematology/oncology inpatients and also includes a teen lounge for the AYA patients. The JJCCI includes a multi-disciplinary care team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physical therapists, dietitians, psychologists, social workers and dentists who follow patients across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Opened in 2021, the new children’s outpatient village includes 30 different types of specialty physicians and a variety of medical services that are centralized in the Cherese Marie Laulhere Children’s Village on the Miller’s Children campus in Long Beach, California.

Responsibilities
For this UCLA Pediatric Hematology/Oncology clinical faculty position, duties primarily include patient care, but also teaching of residents and fellows and scholarly endeavors. There will be 20% protected time for scholarly activities/medical education.
