Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA)

The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health, York University invites highly qualified applicants for a three-year Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) at the rank of Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, to commence July 1, 2021. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates must (1) be registered as a Registered Nurse in good standing or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; (2) have a baccalaureate degree in Nursing and; (3) a Masters degree in Nursing or a directly relevant field (Nursing preferred). Individuals with a PhD in Nursing or related field are preferred.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence or clear potential for excellence in teaching university-level courses through: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-based learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference. The successful candidate will have experience teaching a variety of core nursing courses at the undergraduate level with a demonstrated history of teaching excellence and innovation. The candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, and the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning, and program design. A record of pedagogical innovation in areas such as professional practice, experiential education, technology enhanced learning, and/or transformative learning strategies is preferred as is experience with universal design approaches to teaching and assessment. Evidence of experience in the development of teaching resources and assessment tools and serving on professional committees or governance bodies is an asset. The candidates teaching expertise should complement the substantive areas of expertise of the current faculty, and may include pediatrics, geriatrics, community health, mental health, primary and/or acute care. The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work. Creating or maintaining an independent program of research is not an expectation.
