Role Overview

  • Provide visionary and inclusive leadership for DCSN, overseeing academic programs, faculty, students, and financial resources

  • Serve as public face of the School, advocating for DCSN internally and externally

  • Promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) in all aspects of the School’s operations

  • Engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service duties as a tenured faculty member


Key Responsibilities

  • Academic leadership in curriculum planning, program development, and community engagement

  • Strategic planning and management of faculty, staff, and resources

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment for students and staff

  • Represent the School in university governance, professional organizations, and community partnerships

  • Support and mentor faculty in teaching, research, and career development


Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related discipline

  • At least one completed degree in Nursing

  • Current or eligible registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Established record of academic leadership and clinical experience

  • Demonstrated experience in course/curriculum review, pedagogical practice, and scholarly research

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and management skills

Desirable Attributes:

  • Commitment to EDIA in teaching, research, and service

  • Ability to foster inclusive and accessible learning

  • Track record of collegial service and contribution to academic community


Faculty & School Overview

  • Faculty of Community Services: ~1000 students; focus on innovation, scholarship, and social impact

  • Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing:

    • ~2800 students (undergraduate, graduate, outreach, and continuing education)

    • Master of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner programs

    • Newly launched PhD in Urban Health Program
