The Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Oncology Palliative Care.

The Director of Oncology Palliative Care will lead the Supportive and Palliative Oncology Clinic within the Abramson Cancer Center, with responsibility for growth, and strategic initiatives. He or she will partner with leadership in the Division of Hematology-Oncology and the Cancer Service Line to lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving end-of-life outcomes for cancer patients throughout Penn Medicine.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, housestaff and fellows. The successful candidate will have a strong background and interest in education to further the division's commitment to equip front-line oncology clinicians with basic palliative care skills in serious illness communication and symptom management.

Clinical responsibilities may include a track record in clinical research and clinical care as well as the ability to provide palliative care consultation for cancer patients in close partnership with each patient's oncology team.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include opportunities for research and will be supported for candidates with a proven track record of scholarship. Successful candidates will demonstrate a productive track record in clinical research. There will be an expectation of candidates to apply for peer reviewed funding, industry grants or other sources of funding.

Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Applicants should also hold board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and have demonstrated skills in program development.
