RESPONSIBILITIES:
A full-time faculty/program director position at Davidson County Community College is a nine-month position, with the faculty/program director's primary efforts focused on teaching and learning, academic excellence and student success. The faculty/program director is responsible for program effectiveness, including outcomes, organization, administration, continuous review, planning and development. The faculty/director has a role in management of the program including administration and budget development. The Pharmacy Technology program is accredited American Society of HealthSystem Pharmacists ("ASHP") and the Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education ("ACPE"). In addition, a faculty/program director is responsible for engaging in professional development and promoting the College mission, vision, and values. Faculty employed by the College are responsible for the following:

    • Demonstrating the College's Guiding Teaching Principles of effective teaching that:Ensuring timely, consistent, and feedback and accurate record keeping in support of student success.
      • facilitate student learning to meet the requirements of a changing global economy;
      • is inspirational, providing clear expectations for students regarding learning goals, course policies and assignments;
      • encourage students to engage in critical thinking, reflective reasoning, problem solving, collaboration and application;
      • help students understand how course content is relevant to them and their community throughout their lives, preparing students for enhanced career and educational opportunities;
      • foster a collegial and dynamic process in which faculty share and learn strategies and approaches focused on improving student learning; and
      • infuse a culture of assessment of student learning into the instructional environment to inform improvements in curriculum, pedagogy, resources and student success.
    • Fostering equity and respect for diversity among students with a focus on student learning.
    • Integrating appropriate instructional technology and instructional materials to enhance student learning outcomes and promote student success.
    • Engaging collaboratively with colleagues by using data-informed decision-making to continually improve courses and programs.
    • Collaborating with colleagues across the College to identify and provide appropriate resources that promote student learning and completion.
    • Maintaining currency in one's teaching discipline and in the issues of higher education.
    • Teach at various instructional sites and in multiple delivery formats as needed to meet the scheduling needs of students and programs.
    • Participate in activities necessary to maintain program accreditation through ASHP and ACPE.
