The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA is searching for an outstanding MD or M.D., Ph.D. to serve as Service Chief of Neuropathology. AP or AP/CP board certification (or the equivalent) is essential and Neuropathology board certification is strongly preferred. The appointment would be at the level of Associate or Full Professor, depending on the candidate’s experience. Clinically, expertise in brain tumor pathology is essential and experience in diagnosing neurodegenerative conditions, ocular pathology and neuromuscular conditions also is preferred. Participation in autopsies is required. UCLA has a Brain SPORE program, and the candidate would be expected to lead the SPORE Pathology Core activities and support other biobanking programs. A successful record of productive research collaborations or independent research activities is strongly preferred.

The candidate will be responsible for strategic vision for the Section of Neuropathology as well as for sharing the clinical workload of the Section. The candidate will share responsibility for training residents and fellows and will have opportunities to teach medical students in the David Geffen School of Medicine. Candidates will be expected to contribute creatively to research and scholarly projects; UCLA offers a highly collaborative research environment that promotes interactions among faculty in the School of Medicine. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
