The School of Kinesiology and Health Science, York University, invites applications for a two-year Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) in Applied Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science at the rank of Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, to commence July 1, 2021. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD degree in Kinesiology, Rehabilitation Science or a related field is required. The candidate must also hold a professional designation in one of the following fields of rehabilitation science: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Athletic Therapy/Training. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of rehabilitation science (including the evaluation and management of physical conditions related to the professions of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Athletic Therapy/Training), within the School of Kinesiology and Health Science. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist in the development of an Applied Kinesiology graduate degree. In addition, the candidate will be expected to review the feasibility of developing a Rehabilitation Science graduate program within the Faculty of Health.

The successful candidate will have experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching, supervising and evaluating post-secondary students in applied settings. They will also provide creative educational leadership in enhancing teaching and learning through curricular and pedagogical innovation in and outside of the classroom. The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellence, or clear potential for excellence, in teaching university-level courses, a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, and the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design. A record of pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as problem-solving, evaluation of student competency, and community-based learning is preferred as is experience with curriculum development. The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service contributions in administrative and/or committee work. Creating or maintaining an independent program of research is not an expectation.
