Job DescriptionThe Institute of Public Health (IPH) at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, is seeking to appoint a full-time Instructor to contribute to its teaching and research activities in Biostatistics. We are looking to appoint a suitable candidate with training, experience, and achievements in Biostatistics. Applicants should have good experience in teaching biostatistics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including the MPH and PhD programs. He/she also expected to contribute to teaching various statistical software, such as SPSS, R, and Stata. Furthermore, the candidate should be expected to conduct advanced statistical research, both applied and methodological. It is expected that he/she will publish their research findings in reputable journals. There are good opportunities for collaboration with colleagues at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences and other UAEU colleges, as well as with local and regional institutions. International collaboration, especially with prestigious academic institutions, is encouraged. The successful candidate will also share administrative work in the IPH and the College of Medicine, including serving on committees, invigilating examinations, and contributing to student assessments.
Minimum QualificationApplicants should possess a Master’s degree with a major in Biostatistics, statistics, or relevant fields.
Preferred QualificationMaster’s degree in Biostatistics, along with relevant experience in advanced statistical methods such as prediction modelling, survival analysis, and longitudinal models.
Excpected SkillsA minimum of three years’ experience in research and teaching. Good experience in teaching biostatistics for undergraduate and graduate students. Excellent experience in statistical analysis using SPSS, R, and Stata. Good experience in developing predictive models. Good experience in the Tidyverse ecosystem. Good experience in managing statistical projects using GitHub. Good experience with high-performance computing for computationally intensive statistical computations and simulations. Good understanding of the main concepts of machine learning and deep learning. Excellent experience with the Shiny package. A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodologies. Ability to work independently and take initiatives. Demonstrate awareness of cultural, privacy, and confidentiality issues. Good interpersonal and teamwork skills and flexibility with working hours.
