Position Description

The Department of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital seeks a full-time academic interventional cardiologist with an appointment in one of the following categories:

• Clinician Teacher (CT)

• Clinician Educator (CE)

• Clinician Investigator (CI)

• Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI)

The candidate will hold an academic rank at the University of Toronto and participate in clinical, teaching, and research activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Clinical practice:

  • Participate in 24/7 Primary Angioplasty/Code STEMI service.

  • Attend to inpatient and outpatient cardiology, including Cardiac ICU and specialty clinics (e.g., SCAD clinic).

  • Perform interventional procedures, particularly in structural heart disease and chronic total occlusion/high-risk patients.

• Research & Quality Improvement:

  • Lead or collaborate on clinical research projects.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

• Education:

  • Contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs.

Qualifications

• MD degree (or equivalent).

• Eligible for certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

• Demonstrated expertise in intra-vascular imaging and/or intra-coronary physiology preferred.

• Proven academic record in education, clinical research, or quality improvement.

• Graduate degree or advanced training relevant to specialization is desirable.

• Division of Cardiology at St. Michael’s Hospital:

  • 25 full-time cardiologists.

  • Comprehensive care: interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac imaging, ambulatory care, cardiac ICU, and clinical teaching units.

  • Internationally recognized clinical and research programs.
