Salary Academic Level B ($110,868 - $131,659 + 17% Superannuation

Based at the Bundoora campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University


About You
The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in particular that of the Laboratory Medicine discipline. More specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. They may also be required to teach into other programs within the School. The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The Lecturer may be responsible for course and clinical placement coordination.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

PhD or equivalent in relevant field.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

A demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses (or other relevant and transferable experience) and experience in the preparation and delivery of programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. This includes designing high quality curriculum and program materials and the ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement.

Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning.

Emerging track record and recognition within Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as evidenced by strong industry links and engagement, or as evidenced by quality publications, the development of new research initiatives and being successful with competitive research funding applications.

Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding for projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within either industry or the university sector.

Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, produce executive reports, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes and targets within a collaborative environment
