Posting Summary
The School of Nursing is seeking non-tenure track faculty to teach core, foundational doctoral courses within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program. The successful candidate will become a valued faculty member of the Division of Advanced Nursing Practice with primary responsibilities of teaching DNP Core courses such as, but not limited to, epidemiology, evidence translation, and DNP Project courses for students across a variety of specialty tracks. The position will be based primarily in Newark, NJ. We offer highly competitive salaries and benefits, and start-up packages are available. We are seeking a visionary academic clinician who will make solid contributions to the scholarly growth of our students, school, university, and profession.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • The selected candidate will update/develop, teach, and lead DNP core/foundational graduate courses/course initiatives such as clinical inquiry, evidence translation, data management, epidemiology/population health, and DNP project courses.
    • Responsibilities may include teaching theory and practicum courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels as appropriate.
    • Administrative duties may include program recruitment, application review, student advisement and mentorship, and course and curricular review and updates.
    • DNP project support and supervision, intellectual contributions leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals, and service are required.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education and Experience
    • DNP, EdD, or PhD in nursing or related field
    • Eligibility for appointment at a minimum rank of Clinical Assistant/Assistant Professor, non-tenure track
    • Applicants must have experience with areas such as DNP project completion/education, quality improvement projects, data management, evidence translation, and epidemiology/population health
    • Outstanding reading, editing, and writing skill including ability to help guide/support students
    • Experience with in-person and remote teaching venue
    • Ability to mentor graduate students
    • Interest and demonstrated expertise in teaching identified courses that complement School of Nursing programs

 

 
Certifications/Licenses
    • Registered Nurse/Advanced Practice Nurse (or willing to acquire) NJ license. For non-nurse applicants, familiarity with advanced practice nursing and health, healthcare quality and safety, and healthcare delivery highly desirable.
    • Education and/or current clinical practice as an advanced practice provider.

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying.
