DUTIES

DUTIES:

 

The School of Nursing, Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner program requires the services of Subject Matter Expert/Curriculum Designers to develop materials for:

  1. The clinical component of NURS 5450 Nurse Practitioner Primary Healthcare I 
    The focus is on health promotion, illness prevention, and therapeutic management of episodic, urgent and chronic health conditions common to primary care practice with emphasis on adults.

     
  2. The clinical component of NURS 5460 Nurse Practitioner Primary Healthcare II
    The focus is on health promotion, illness prevention, and therapeutic management of episodic, urgent and chronic health conditions common to primary care practice with emphasis on women’s health and paediatrics.

     
  3. The clinical component of NURS 64300 Nurse Practitioner Primary Healthcare III
    The focus is on consolidation of the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program in a final intensive clinical internship.

Successful candidates will work under the guidance of the MNNP Coordinator, and in collaboration with the development team lead to provide course content development for the clinical component of the course.

In addition, successful candidates will collaborate with (a) course development partner(s) who are simultaneously developing the theory component of the course.

The clinical development will include:

  • Detailed blueprint of the clinical component of the course outline
     
  • Learning outcomes, learning activities, and substantive, robust, leveled assessments that are appropriate for a Nurse Practitioner program and practice standards
     
  • Developing SIM lab and lab demonstrations relevant to the theory component
     
  • Identify and provide current resources reflective of Provincial and National Nurse Practitioner standards.
     
  • Input into the planning phase, with the review of a course framework that includes relevant learning outcomes and mapping of course activities, assessments, and updated resources
     
  • Review of content, learning activities, and authentic assessments to ensure that they are relevant and appropriate for an NP program course and practice standards.
QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD (or equivalent) is preferred; master’s degree required;
  • Must have current license as a Nurse Practitioner and be eligible for BCCNM registration in good standing without limits or conditions;
  • Current Three (3) years’ experience in the role of a Nurse Practitioner;
  • Working knowledge of legislation informing the practice of Nurse Practitioners;

Experience teaching in post-secondary institutions and/or course development in a face-to-face or distance environment is an asset.
