Role DescriptionDepartmentThe Hull York Medical School is a different kind of Medical School. The joint medical school of the Universities of Hull and York, we have a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting, contemporary schools. Our innovative curriculum and focus on problem based learning and early and sustained clinical exposure ensures that students on our MB BS programme develop the problem solving, analytical and communication skills and resilience needed to deliver a high standard of care to people with complex needs and from a variety of backgrounds. The School is currently undergoing expansion following a successful bid to expand the number of undergraduate medical student places. We therefore have an ambitious strategy for growth and diversification of our research and educational programmes. We aspire to being sector leading in our approach to population health, building on a great heritage in public health, particularly at the University of York. RoleThe purpose of the role is to support the development and delivery of the theme ’Health and Society’ within our undergraduate medicine curriculum and similar activities in our Physician Associate studies Masters programme. This aspect of our curriculum incorporates the disciplines underpinning Public Health: epidemiology; evidence-based practice; behavioural sciences; medical sociology; medical statistics; plus introductory content on health economics, quality management and the structure of the NHS. The Health and Society theme runs through all five years of the MB BS and is one of four longitudinal strands around which the curriculum is structured. The postholder will have a key role in the development and delivery of this theme. We are particularly looking for someone with strong epidemiological skills, who will lead one of the discipline areas within the theme. Experience in assessment of population health sciences would be desirable. Our programmes are integrated, depending on a collaborative approach to delivery. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
