Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences
Brunel University London, Department of Life Sciences
United Kingdom

We are seeking to appoint  three candidates at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level within the Division of Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences (part of the Department of Life Sciences) at Brunel University London. The post-holders will assist us in redeveloping/promoting the Division’s suite of undergraduate degree programmes as well as expanding our recognised research power (ranked 5th in the UK in the 2014 REF).

We would particularly welcome applications from individuals with expertise in one or more of the following sub-disciplines: biomechanics, coaching, exercise physiology, coaching, pedagogy, sociology of sport, sport psychology (ideally HCPC registered) and quantitative research methods. In addition to generating high-quality research outputs, the post-holders will engage in the full range of teaching and learning activities, including supervision of undergraduate work placements, undergraduate major projects, and Master’s-level dissertations. They will also engage with our flagship Tutoring@Brunel scheme and supervise doctoral students after appropriate in-house training.

We are proud of the exceptional development structure for early-career academics at Brunel University London. Under Brunel’s Academic Life Cycle policy, an appointment at Lecturer level will be subject to a 2-year probationary period (with an associated reduction in teaching duties) followed by a 2-year development period. Subject to meeting probationary and development targets, the post-holder will be promoted to Senior Lecturer after 4 years.

We work hard to provide a supportive and positive academic environment and the Department of Life Sciences proudly holds an Athena SWAN Bronze Award. We are also a Disability Confident employer. The diversity of our staff adds greatly to this inclusive ethos, and we particularly welcome applications from women and under-represented groups.
