The University Day Nursery are recruiting an experienced, enthusiastic Nursery Nurse Level 3 Practitioner, working with children aged 3mths to 5yrs.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will care for children attending the nursery, providing a safe, caring environment and ensuring their physical and educational needs are met. You will have an assigned group of children, working your Room Leader and parents to understand and agree every child’s unique needs and stages of development. You’ll make observations to share with the Nursery and parents and you’ll help plan and implement appropriate activities to enhance the childrens’ development and nurturing. Effective communication is key to this role and you’ll be able to identify and effectively report any observations, hazards or accidents to the Room Leader.

Your personal development in this role will enable you to rotate around different Rooms in the nursery on an annual basis to gain experience with other teams and age groups. You’ll attend staff meetings and training as a part of the team.

Skills and Experience

You’ll have worked in a similar day nursery setting before, and have experience of planning learning activities for children and keeping observations as a key worker. You will demonstrate knowledge of The Early Years Foundation Stage and the Children’s Act, and evidence that you can manage time effectively. You’ll bring excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team. You’re likely to be creative and / or musical, and be able to demonstrate a caring, empathetic and enthusiastic approach.

Qualifications & memberships

You will hold relevant childcare qualifications at level 3 or above, along with GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C / 4 or above, or proven relevant work experience.
