Doctoral (PhD) Student Position in Reproductive Endocrinology and Metabolism

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

To be a doctoral student means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of experienced researchers and following an individual study plan. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.

The research group

The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Metabolism performs research with the aim to yield new key information on the pathophysiology of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affecting ~15% of women in reproductive age. PCOS is linked to multiple severe health consequences, including reproductive, metabolic, and psychiatric disorders. Despite detrimental impacts on women’s health, the etiology and origin of PCOS has proven elusive.  The research is translational, and we combine register-based, cross-sectional, and longitudinal clinical studies with different mice models. The group works in an inspiring and interactive research environment in Biomedicum at Campus Solna and has on-going collaborative projects with national and international colleagues. To learn more about the group, please visit our web page: http://ki.se/en/fyfa/reproductive-endocrinology-and-metabolism

The doctoral student project and the duties of the doctoral student

The project will focus on the etiology and origin of PCOS by investigating how maternal anti-Müllerian hormone/androgen exposure affect the offspring and the transmission of a PCOS-like phenotype to female and male offspring in subsequent generations. Moreover, the PhD project will be involved in projects investigating human endometrium and ovarian cell population by multiomic techniques and possible tissue cross-talk.

The student is expected to fulfil the course requirements of the doctoral program, participate in regular group meetings, seminars, present at national/international meetings and take part in routine work within the research team. Most important the student is expected to plan and drive the research projects, perform experiments, analyze and present results.
