Postdoc in Human Aging Interventions in the Scheibye-Knudsen Group, Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher for a two-year position commencing on 1 September 2020. The candidate will investigate interventions in humans that may slow the pace of aging.

Our research

The Scheibye-Knudsen lab uses highly novel in silico, in vitro and in vivo approaches to understand the interplay between cellular processes and the pathologies of aging with the aim to develop interventions leading to healthy aging.

The successful candidate will become part of a diverse and highly international group of around twenty extremely dedicated researchers seeing to unravel the age-old question: why do we age? The group collaborates with researchers across the globe and the successful candidate will become part of this collaboration.

The primary place of employment will be at the University of Copenhagen while the successful candidate should be prepared to spend part of his/her employment with collaborators abroad. The Scheibye-Knudsen lab is part of the Center for Healthy Aging, University of Copenhagen, where a broad range of researchers focus on understanding aging and age-associated diseases.

Your job

The successful candidate is expected to manage clinical trials testing several interventions in healthy elderly volunteers and patients, primarily focusing on lung disease. It is also expected that the candidate can apply for running cost grants.

We are a large group and support for all these activities are amble. Additional molecular, cellular and interventions using animal models can be performed.

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You are highly motivated.
  • You are experienced in managing clinical trials.
  • You have a strong interest in aging and age-associated diseases, preferably lung disease.

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of molecular changes that occur with aging.
  • Experience in in vitro models.

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Our research facilities include state of the art laboratories allowing us to answer any type of scientific question from the molecular level to the human.

Terms of employment

The employment as Postdoc is a full-time position (37 working hours per week) for two years and the starting date is 1 September 2020.

Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at DKK 34,654 / approx. EUR 4,620 (April 2020-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to a pension fund.

Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of June 28, 2013.
